About Us
Don’t Clock Out is a 501(c)(3) mental health nonprofit founded and led by healthcare workers dedicated to supporting our community through the impacts of moral distress.
We are a coalition of healthcare workers & advocates dedicated to supporting healthcare worker wellbeing.
We believe that through peer support, community & acknowledgment of the role of systemic exploitation, we can directly mitigate the impacts of moral distress & begin to reclaim our sense of purpose.

Don’t Clock Out was founded in response to the tragic death of our dear friend, and beloved travel nurse, Michael Odell.
Michael died by suicide on January 18th, 2022. We lost contact with Michael during the last 4 hours of his shift at a Stanford facility in the Bay Area, when he alerted his charge nurse that he needed to retrieve something from his car. He never clocked back in.
Michael was an incredibly caring human being; his passion and zest for life touched so many across the nation and the world. We honor his life and work by caring for each other and spreading his love and his message to our nursing community: you are never alone.

We are friends and colleagues of Michael Odell who share a common passion for improving mental health and welfare among nurses.
Our goal is simple: we refuse to lose another friend or colleague to preventable mental health crises. Our work isn’t done until every healthcare worker is provided with quality, accessible mental health care.
